Powerful Symptoms

 scan00134.jpg

This is the definition of shyness.

Shyness is a psychological state that causes a person to feel discomfort in social situations in ways that interfere with enjoyment or that cause avoidance of social contacts altogether

The part of the definition that stood out for me was “interfere with enjoyment.”  Why would someone want to have a trait that can interfere with their enjoyment?

I guess want is the wrong word.  However, if you are not choosing to do anything about feeling shy then perhaps want is the right word.  Maybe you choose to ignore feeling shy.  You probably do not have the feeling 24/7 so you will deal with it when it pops up.

How often does it pop up?  Probably often.  So you do have to deal with it often.

These are the symptoms you may experience when you feel shy.

  • Accelerated heart rate
  • Trembling or shaking
  • Sweating
  • Feeling faint or dizzy, butterflies in stomach or nausea
  • Experiencing the situation or oneself as unreal or removed

I did not make these up.  These are from the website http://www.shyness.com/encyclopedia.html

Dr. Philip Zimbardo is one of the leading experts on shyness.  These symptoms are from his extensive studies.

I hope you can find a way to eliminate any of these symptoms.  They are not pleasant feelings.  They are powerful feelings.
